Devlog #6 - Remodelling

Week 10 - 03.10.2018

(All these dates are confusing me, I think this is week 10?? Yes, I'm sure it's week 10 actually.)

OKAY, so this week, it was all about remodelling the scenes, getting the animations to work and making a trailer for the game. Last week, I remodelled the entire so that it was bigger and better (?). I think it really changed up how the game felt to play and how it looked also. It was a step closer to it looking more polished.

So after I put the restaurant into the game, we have to move all of the existing characters and code into the new scene. It was just the date and the  dialogue prompts and that was it. So this week, I had to work on remodelling the character model and animating the eating and drinking actions. I also had to model some food for the date and the main character as well as some extra background characters like customers, waiters and waitresses.

At the moment, I will be leaving the date's model as is but I am thinking of remodelling him if I'm going to animate him because I messed up the proportions of the body and it looks reaaaally weird. Also, it looks kinda different to the main character's model now since I decided to have it smooth rather than super flat and blocky.

There are a lot of other things I need to animate but I animated the main things so we could get them in the trailer in time. I will have to look into animating the rest later on in the week/ in the next week or something. My main focus now is to fix up the bathroom scene and fix up the dialogue/ add more.  Pretty much, the majority of this week was getting work done so that we could show it in the trailer that we're working on. We managed to make a trailer (which won't be the final one because we need to re-record some of the scenes) so here it is!!!

There are things here and there that we need to fix up/ cut out but I think it gives a good idea of our game (??) I had a lot of trouble thinking of what the trailer should say and although it's not yet 100% there, I think it's good enough for now. I really couldn't think of another way to put it without it being a wall of text, y'know?? But my team mate Zen made the trailer and I think he did a great job :-))!!!

There isn't really much else for me to say for this week's stuff. A lot of it is just shown in the pictures. I enjoyed working this week and I feel like the both of us have done a lot in a week. I learnt some new things too when modelling and animated the characters and each time I have to think about and write about the game, it makes me more and more sure of it and I understand it a little more each time. Hopefully, by the end of the semester, I can easily sum it all up in 1 killer sentence/ paragraph! ;-)

Next week, we should have the bathroom scene and some more dialogue and content done so let's all look forward to that!!!!!

Thanks for reading!
